Pregnancy
Back pain isn't just part of being pregnant.
Most expecting mothers are told there is nothing to do about back or pelvic pain until the baby comes: no medication, no imaging, no injections. There is something. It is seated, it is gentle, and it starts at week 12.

How prenatal care works here
The tables we use have a prenatal protocol from their manufacturer: seated and slightly reclined, never face-down, a shorter session, with heat and vibration switched off. It gently unloads the lower back and pelvis that are carrying more every week. Many mothers come weekly from the second trimester through delivery, then come back for a follow-up after the baby arrives.
What we don't do
Nothing before week 12. Nothing postpartum until your OB or midwife has cleared you. If what you need is something other than what we do, Dr. Metcalf will point you to someone who does it well. We keep your OB, midwife or doula in the loop with a written summary after your first visit.
Who it's for
- Low back or pelvic pain from the second trimester on
- Sciatica during pregnancy
- A disc problem that was there before the pregnancy
- Low back or pelvic pain after the baby arrives, once cleared
Pregnancy with a hypertensive disorder, placental concerns, or any complication your OB is watching needs their written OK first. We will ask.

Start with a free first visit.
Free
Your first visit is free: a consultation and a short, gentle exam with Dr. Metcalf, and you try one session the same day. If it's right for you, Dr. Metcalf goes over a plan for the rest of your pregnancy and a follow-up after your baby arrives. New patients only. Some insurance plans are excluded by law.
